Why This One?

I had been researching ways to make money in a home based business for a couple of years, and I saw a lot of interesting ideas come and go. The great pre-launches were announced, you got the emails from people that this was it, the biggest launch in history, people all started getting in line, all the noise you usually see. Then, nothing ever happened.
At a darts tournament in Las Vegas last spring, a friend quietly said to me, “I am really excited about a project I am working on. This is going to be a great year!” I had to ask him for a month or so to tell me what he was doing, and when I finally pinned him down, what he told me made perfect sense. He said…
What if you could have wholesale access to a product that 280 million people are ALREADY spending money on in the United States? Imagine never having to explain to people what it was, how you would go about using it, and why they would ever want it in the first place? First problem solved - no learning curve.

A Great Lesson Today…

A dear friend of mine, a mentor who is an incredible teacher and leader, did a training session a few months back. He talked about the idea that each of us has a “number”, meaning a number of touches, or exposures of the idea we are building to the world at large. Once we reach that number, regardless of the result, we will be at the top target level we are seeking. We just need a result of some type from the exposure, a “yes” and off we go, or a “no, that’s not for me” and both parties move on.

He also suggested creating a personal formula related to the business you are developing to give you an idea of the dollar value of each time you share the information with someone. For instance, you might say that the average success rate is 3 out of 10, so those 3 success’s would be worth x, and the ten “touches” would be worth x divided by 10. So, it’s necessary to get all 10 of those exposures to shake out the three positive results!

Now, when you begin talking to people, and the first three or four give you a rough time or try to knock you down, rejoice in the fact that you are just that much closer to the yes pile! Jim Rohn likes to say that their are only 3 or 4 truly miserable, negative people in the world, so when you bump into one, and you live through it, you know you are almost done with that part of the journey to the future you dream of!

Why Does Wireless Make A Great Business?

Wireless phones now outnumber land lines! 1 in 5 U.S. homes do not have a land line phone! 130 million NEW cell phones purchased each year! Wouldn’t it be great to not need to explain what your product is, how to use it, and why your potential customer would want to?

What if you could partner up with a wireless company that is only 18 months old, but has 16 years in telecom and has NEVER missed a payment to its reps? Can you imagine, having the chance to position yourself like that? The Dex Yager of wireless - what would that mean for your future? No limits!

What Fills Your Imagination?

Is there a future that you imagine for yourself? What would you change about your own world if you could? Is it more time that you are running for? A higher income level? Is there a project that you would like to complete if you had more time and money?

For me, there’s a combination of these things. I would love to have more time to just hang out with my kids - no agenda, no schedule, just open time. Can you imagine that? Without getting in the way of their education, of course, I would love to have the middle of the week be a “get up at the crack of noon and roll to the beach” day, anytime they want it to. I am a musician and tournament darts player, and wow it would be amazing to be able to invest as much time as felt right in both those passions. It’s about options, right?

The next question is, have you found a vehicle to make the changes in your journey to have these options? There’s so many ideas out there to change or improve the time and income levels in your life! I have one that I am very excited about, and I hope you all do as well. I just pray that you will be careful in the selection of which project or projects you will pursue - have you done your due diligence? Many of the “ideas” or “opportunities” out there get a little hazy when you look at them in the light of day and shake out the hype…the things promised are more than the company could deliver, or the opportunity seeks to skirt the edges of the law by calling itself something besides what it really is, like cash gifting. That’s a post for another time, but the legal dangers there will greatly out weigh any income you might be promised!

I am not qualified to spell out a list of which projects are good and which are not, but a good friend of mine who is living the type of servant centered life I aspire to live gave me these tips to look for in any opportunity:

  1. Is the company solid and stable?
  2. Is the timing right for the opportunity?
  3. Are the products something people want and need?
  4. Is the compensation plan generous?
  5. Are there proven tools & training in place to help you?

Each one of these points could merit an explanation, but I will leave you with this. If you bump into a company that wants to charge you $400 to have access to a suite of services and products, do a little research. If more than half of the things offered can be found free or with a low cost with a little web research, you are about to be disappointed after you sign up, as they won’t be around long after they get your money…just some food for thought!

What Is The Wireless Revolution?

If you are exploring a business in the wireless industry, make sure you look carefully. It’s not my place to tell you which one is “best”, but look out for something that has been in “pre-launch” for 18 months under 3 different names, or promises something that it can’t possibly deliver. Be aware! There’s so many opportunities that say they have something going in wireless, but here’s the issues…

  1. Do they have a REAL address with customer support, shipping and receiving, and working support staff? If they don’t or you can’t find any info about, you may have weeks or even months of delays in receiving the products you tried to pay for!
  2. Do you know anything about the people who founded your company? Do they have decades in the telecom / wireless industry, or are they “serial jumpers” who are trying to grab on to the next big “me too” after “pre-launching” in other products or services over and over again?
  3. Is the company promising really incredible pricing, so much so that it really blows away the offerings from the major US wireless carriers? If it undercuts the “big players” by a huge amount, get it in writing.

So many choices out there in the home business world are real, valid, and a great way to go, but it’s worth it to do your homework. If it’s a “life changing, one of a kind opportunity” at 7:30 in the morning when you get the “Join The Prelaunch Now”   email, it still will be a great deal at 7:30 tonight after you have done your due diligence.

I am a single dad, a composer/songwriter, and a wireless business owner. hopefully I will get a chance to post some thoughts and stories about all of the things that make me smile, and maybe a few that don’t make me smile…gotta be real, right?
